Worldox Conversion - Removing Worldox

Worldox is a Document Managment System that targets legal firms as their primary customer base. A current client of ours was interested in removing Worldox from their equation. That proved somewhat difficult - but not impossible. Perhaps this document can assist others with migrating away from Worldox

Paths are given in unix style relative to the Worldox root.

Worldox Directory Structure

Worldox keeps its data and file database in /WORLDOX, files are stored in /DOCS. The /WORLDOX directory has two key files buried in it: /WORLDOX/Shared/EAFILE98.FT1 and /WORLDOX/Shared/EAFILE98.FT2 These files contain the ID to Client and ID to Matter mappings. The /DOCS directory are where all the files are stored as /DOCS/CLIENT_ID/MATTER Each of these docs directories contains files xname.crs and xname.lib. Those two files contain some information about the directory and its file contents.

Conversion Step One

Move/rename all the /DOCS/CLIENT_ID to /DOCS/Client_Name.
